Unleash your creativity and immerse yourself in the timeless artistry of gold embroidery at our exclusive workshop hosted with Hand and Lock on Sunday 2nd June.
Sunday 2nd June, 3pm – 6pm
Guided by the expert hand embroidery tutors from Hand & Lock, you’ll learn essential skills for this intricate craft, including learning the fundamental techniques of Metal Thread work.
Explore the rich history and tradition woven into goldwork embroidery as you learn how to combine threads and beautifully finish your design with couture methods.
Goldwork is the art of embroidery using metal threads. Historically associated with ceremonial and military uniform the technique is now also popular in customization, couture and interior design.
Using threads that are imitation gold, silver, copper, or coloured allows embroiderers to create metallic surface designs that reflect light and create dazzling effects.
This three hour workshop will teach you traditional Goldwork embroidery techniques used in Military and Ceremonial pieces. The design is inspired by the oak leaf motif found across British Military uniforms.
The workshop will include an introduction talk to the Household Cavalry Museum and Hand and Lock.
